Hi all, I graduated from Eastern Idaho Technical College in Idaho Falls ID Feb 22nd of this year and was looking forward to a truck driving job. Because the market it so poor in Idaho falls i could never find a good reliable job! I would work for a farmer or some shady charter under the tabel to get ripped off or left in the dust. SO i went to sign on with a Major US Truck company and was transported to Portland OR via greyhound only to be told they preferred i was 24..... Nothing on there website says this.... And they denied my trip back home. Im basicly stranded in Oregon luckly i have friends in new port and what little money i had left i got a ticket to New Port. My family is broke and i got two kiddos at home waitin for me to get back... Im a good working person and all i want to do is support my family so im looking for someone as i have talked to other truckers that suggested i look for a Owner Op who may have another truck and just want to train me for a week or so that could get me a position. Please if you know of a way out of this town to a job or back home please let me know!! coreyaustin at gmail dotcom all one word |

Corey Sorry to hear about your situation. I would recommend that you get in touch with Schneider National. Their website is www.schneiderjobs.com they have a very intense truck driving school that is at no upfront cost to you. Your work history is important in the decision process. They move very fast with a decision on whether you will be hired or not. If you are hired they will provide bus ticket or rental car to the training facility. I am not sure if you are aware of this or not but majority of the trucking jobs available to folks with little experience are over the road which means you will be away from home monday-friday if you are fortunate or the 14 days away with 4 days off. Schneider has many options. I only speak highly of Schneider because they helped me get my foot in the door. I personally had a bad experience but I have kept in touch with many drivers that I met in training and they have had a much better experience. I hope this helps. |
